As a Paratransit Quality Control team member, you'll play a critical part in keeping our para-transit fleet safe, fueled, and ready for service-while gaining direct exposure to vehicle systems, shop operations, and preventative maintenance practices. This position is an ideal entry point for anyone looking to grow into higher-level technician or fleet maintenance roles over time.
Starting at $19.00/hr with opportunities for advancement.
Major Responsibilities
- Open lot gates and inspect para-transit parking areas to ensure vehicles are ready for timely dispatch; reposition vehicles as needed to maintain yard flow.
- Operate the fuel island, take accurate stick and meter readings, and submit daily inventory sheets.
- Maintain accurate records, including Bulk Fuel Receiving, Fuel Variance, Month-End Closing, and Meter Calibration reports.
- Monitor fuel levels, notify management when deliveries are needed, and ensure proper procedures and accurate readings before and after delivery.
- Check and fill fluids (oil, antifreeze, power steering, transmission, brake fluid, washer fluid) and inspect belts during fueling; maintain adequate supplies and communicate inventory usage with the shop foreman.
- Inspect tires twice weekly for proper pressure and damage; report issues immediately.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections during fueling or as scheduled; report any damage immediately.
- Maintain spill barrel inventory and respond to fuel spills by containing them and notifying management immediately.
- Maintain supplies for minor repairs and vehicle washing.
- Clean vehicle interiors and exteriors to maintain fleet standards.
- Perform basic maintenance of buildings and grounds, including yard cleanliness, grass, weeds, and other assigned projects.
- Complete additional duties and assignments as directed by management.
Minimum Education or Certifications Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum Experience or Skills Required
- Strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to communicate and interact professionally with employees at all levels, including drivers, customers, senior management, client representatives, union officials, and the public
- Flexibility to work extended hours, including weekends and holidays, based on business needs
- Demonstrated reliability through consistent attendance and punctuality
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Work outdoors in varying seasonal weather conditions, including wet, cold, and hot environments
- Ability to drive a company or personal vehicle for job-related duties (e.g., driver performance reviews, client meetings)
- Use full range of hearing, speech, and vision
- Demonstrate manual dexterity for handling paperwork and completing reports
- Ability to stoop, crouch, squat, kneel, and bend at the knee, hip, and waist during inspections and daily tasks
- Stand for extended periods while performing inspections
- Ability to write clear, coherent, and legible reports
