As a Mechanic with First Student, you will help maintain and repair school buses to ensure vehicle readiness & safety.

Responsibilities:

Diagnose and perform accurately all phases of vehicle and equipment repair under minimal supervision. Repairs include brakes, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, transmission and other repairs.
Removal and reinstalment of mechanical components with minimal supervision.
Participate in 90-day preventative maintenance inspection program, safety inspections and annual maintenance inspections.
Issue semiannual and annual MTO certificates using Drive On program

About the Diesel Technician Position

As a Diesel Technician with First Student, you will help maintain and repair school buses to ensure safety and reliability.

Diesel Technician Responsibilities

Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for our passengers
Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle maintenance including brake repairs and inspections, engine tune-ups, suspension repairs, drivetrain repairs, transmission repairs, clutch replacements, and other mechanical repairs
Perform preventive maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical systems
Complete work orders accurately and maintain proper service documentation
Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Follow all company safety and maintenance procedures

Diesel Technician Qualifications

Minimum of 5+ years of diesel, fleet, bus, truck, heavy equipment, or automotive maintenance and repair experience, or equivalent technical school education and experience

Valid driver\'s license required
CDL Class B or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment (company-paid training provided)

About the Diesel Technician Position

As a Diesel Technician with First Student, you will help maintain and repair school buses to ensure safety and reliability.

Diesel Technician Responsibilities

Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for our passengers
Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle maintenance including brake repairs and inspections, engine tune-ups, suspension repairs, drivetrain repairs, transmission repairs, clutch replacements, and other mechanical repairs
Perform preventive maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical systems
Complete work orders accurately and maintain proper service documentation
Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Follow all company safety and maintenance procedures

Diesel Technician Qualifications

Minimum of 5+ years of diesel, fleet, bus, truck, heavy equipment, or automotive maintenance and repair experience, or equivalent technical school education and experience
Strong vehicle diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
Valid driver\'s license required
CDL Class B or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment (company-paid training provided)
Possession of a mechanic\'s tool set required
Willingness to participate in the ASE certification program (training, testing, and pay increases provided)
Strong computer and documentation skills
School bus, fleet, transit, municipal, or heavy truck experience preferred

Facilities Technician Responsibilities

Inspect and repair facility components and systems under general supervision
Troubleshoot and repair electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and facility systems
Perform preventive maintenance and equipment inspections
Complete minor mechanical repairs and assist with installation of new systems or components
Maintain facility cleanliness including offices, restrooms, and common areas

Facilities Technician Responsibilities

Inspect and repair facility components and systems under general supervision
Troubleshoot and repair electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and facility systems
Perform preventive maintenance and equipment inspections
Complete minor mechanical repairs and assist with installation of new systems or components
Maintain facility cleanliness including offices, restrooms, and common areas
Support yard and outdoor maintenance as needed
Ensure proper handling and disposal of non-hazardous and hazardous materials
Maintain equipment in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
Identify and report safety hazards, ensuring a safe working environment
Assist with general facility upkeep tasks as assigned by management

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required
1-2 years of maintenance or facilities experience preferred
Broad knowledge of maintenance disciplines including electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
Ability to operate tools and equipment safely and effectively
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
Good communication and teamwork skills
Electrician or welding experience/licensing is a plus

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Ability to work both indoors and outdoors as required
Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment or materials as needed
Must be able to perform physical tasks associated with maintenance and repair work

About the Diesel Technician Position

As a Diesel Technician with First Student, you will help maintain and repair school buses to ensure safety and reliability.

Diesel Technician key responsibilities include:

Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for our passengers.
Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle maintenance including the repair of brakes and brake inspections, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, transmission clutches and other repairs.
Perform preventive maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.
Complete work orders accurately.
Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed.

Diesel Technician Qualifications

At least 1 year of diesel or automotive maintenance and repair experience, or equivalent technical school education and experience.
Vehicle diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
Valid driver\'s license required.
CDL Class B or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment - Company paid training provided.
Possession of a mechanic\'s tool set to complete all assigned duties.
Willingness to participate in the ASE certification program (training, testing, and bonuses provided).
Strong computer skills.
Note: This position is subject to DOT drug testing as a safety-sensitive employee. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
