The Maintenance Supervisor leads the shop team, coordinates vehicle availability with operations, and ensures all maintenance work meets company, state, and federal requirements.

Pay: $70,000 - $80,000/year based on experience and qualifications

Key Responsibilities

Schedule and oversee preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, and other fleet maintenance activities.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues involving diesel engines, buses, and related equipment.
Perform hands-on maintenance and repair work as needed.
Coordinate vehicle availability with dispatch, the Maintenance Manager, and other operations personnel.
Plan and distribute daily work assignments based on shop priorities and operational needs.
Delegate responsibilities, monitor performance, and provide direction and support to maintenance employees.
Assist with personnel matters, including hiring, promotions, performance management, and disciplinary recommendations, subject to management review and approval.
Ensure day-to-day compliance with company policies and all applicable state and federal requirements.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Technical or vocational training preferred.
Valid CDL with all required endorsements.
At least three years of hands-on mechanical and supervisory experience.
Experience repairing and maintaining diesel engines, buses, or other heavy-duty vehicles preferred.
Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to lead employees, organize workloads, and manage competing priorities.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Basic computer and maintenance-recordkeeping skills.
Ability to lift approximately 20 to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions

This position works primarily in a maintenance shop environment and is regularly exposed to dust, dirt, grease, noise, and other conditions associated with vehicle repair.

The Maintenance Supervisor must be able to stand, bend, kneel, crouch, and work underneath vehicles, including while lying on a mechanic\'s dolly. The position requires regular hands-on work involving buses and maintenance equipment.

About the Role

The Field Supervisor monitors driver performance, supports safe and reliable service, investigates accidents and incidents, and assists with compliance reporting and operational support. This role works closely with drivers, management, school district partners, and customers to reinforce safety expectations, resolve service concerns, and ensure routes operate efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor driver pre-trip and post-trip inspections and address equipment concerns such as lights, clips, strobes, brakes, and other safety-related items.
Perform driver road checks, including observations of bus stop timing, safe driving practices, speed, railroad crossings, and overall route performance.
Observe drivers for work readiness, including uniform, safety vest, appearance, and adherence to company expectations.
Conduct IPP Safety contacts with drivers and correct safety violations in the field.
Investigate incidents and accidents by gathering facts, documenting the scene, taking photos, and completing required reports.
Attend client conferences, parent meetings, and bus coordinator meetings related to driver performance or service concerns.
Help maintain calm, fact-based discussions with customers, drivers, and client representatives while recommending corrective action to management.
Complete compliance-related activities, including motor vehicle records, background checks, non-compliance lists, route signs, GAP applications, accident reports, and safety data entry into DMO or other systems.
Supervise daily loading and unloading at schools.
Coordinate transportation support for special events, including driver parking, parent parking, loading, and unloading.
Monitor on-time performance and follow up on service issues as needed.
Dispatch as needed to support daily operations.
Assist management with driver interviews and other operational needs.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
1-2 years of supervisory experience with hourly employees preferred.
Computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Familiarity with basic vehicle mechanical processes and maintenance preferred.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to interact professionally with drivers, employees, customers, senior management, client representatives, union officials, and the general public.
Ability to communicate clearly in English.
Ability to work extended hours, including weekends, as needed.
Regular and consistent attendance and punctuality required.
Must have a working vehicle or reliable transportation to travel within the service area as needed.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

The Field Supervisor must be able to move throughout the office, bus yard, parking areas, schools, and other company or client locations. This role requires the ability to use standard office equipment, access filing systems and cabinets, and communicate effectively in person, by phone, and in writing.

This position may require the ability to:

Drive a company or personal vehicle for driver observations, school district meetings, and other company-related purposes.

About the Role

The Dispatcher is responsible for dispatching buses and supporting drivers to help ensure safe, reliable, and on-time service within an assigned geographic area. This role serves as a key communication point between drivers, operations, customers, and location leadership.

The Dispatcher supports daily route operations, helps resolve service issues, manages heavy phone and radio communication, and assists with day-to-day operational needs to keep service running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

Dispatch buses and provide timely route information to drivers
Oversee routing and scheduling support for assigned buses and routes
Monitor on-time performance and help resolve service delays or route concerns
Serve as a primary communication liaison with contracted customers
Handle heavy phone and radio traffic in a professional and timely manner
Assist drivers with day-to-day operational questions and route needs
Provide solutions for pick-up and drop-off issues as they arise
Receive scheduling concerns, driver complaints, and service-related issues
Resolve customer or service problems directly when appropriate or escalate to the Operations Supervisor, Contract Manager, or location leadership

Dispatcher

Pay: $25.00/hr

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

Dispatch buses and provide timely route information to drivers
Oversee routing and scheduling support for assigned buses and routes
Monitor on-time performance and help resolve service delays or route concerns
Serve as a primary communication liaison with contracted customers
Handle heavy phone and radio traffic in a professional and timely manner
Assist drivers with day-to-day operational questions and route needs
Provide solutions for pick-up and drop-off issues as they arise
Receive scheduling concerns, driver complaints, and service-related issues
Resolve customer or service problems directly when appropriate or escalate to the Operations Supervisor, Contract Manager, or location leadership
Coach and counsel drivers on frontline service and operational issues
Monitor and support resolution of driver performance, disciplinary, and service concerns
Ensure compliance with operating contracts, state and local ordinances, and company policies and procedures
May support charter reservations, billing, driver payroll, licensing, or driver hiring activities
May perform backup driver duties as needed
Complete clerical duties while buses are in route
Complete special projects as assigned

What Success Looks Like

Buses are dispatched accurately and on time
Drivers receive clear, timely communication and support
Service issues are handled quickly and professionally
Customer communication is consistent and reliable
Route, pick-up, and drop-off concerns are resolved with minimal disruption
Phone and radio traffic is managed efficiently
Daily operations remain compliant with company policies, contract requirements, and local regulations
Location leadership is kept informed of service issues, driver concerns, and operational needs

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required
Appropriate vehicle license preferred
3-5 years of related experience preferred
Previous terminal operations, dispatch, transportation, school bus, or driver experience preferred
Basic knowledge of radio dispatch equipment
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to work under time constraints and meet deadlines
Ability to stay calm and organized in a fast-paced environment
Computer literacy required
Strong problem-solving and follow-up skills
Ability to communicate effectively with drivers, customers, leadership, and internal teams

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Must be able to move about an office, terminal, school bus yard, and between floors as needed
Ability to use standard office equipment
Ability to access filing systems and cabinets
Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently in person, by phone, and by radio
Work may be performed in an office, school bus yard, or transportation facility environment
Possible on-the-road responsibilities may be required
