About the Role
The Router in Brooklyn, NY supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our local student transportation team. This role is responsible for helping establish, update, and maintain accurate student transportation routes while supporting route communication, data accuracy, and daily service needs.
The Router works closely with location leadership, dispatch, routing, school district partners, Board of Education/OPT contacts, parents, school personnel, drivers, and internal teams to support daily routing activity, accurate records, route updates, customer communication, compliance, and company goals.
This position is a key part of the local team and helps ensure students, families, schools, drivers, customers, and support teams have the information and follow-through needed to deliver safe and dependable service.
This role is a contract position with an anticipated end date of November 27, 2026.
What You'll Do
Support day-to-day routing, office, and student transportation activity.
Receive student data from the Board of Education/OPT and accurately route students in a timely and efficient manner.
Establish and maintain student transportation routes as efficiently as possible.
Monitor and maintain route accuracy, including route assignments, stop times, transit times, and route adjustments.
Maintain a continuous, proactive communication loop with parents and school officials regarding route assignments, time updates, and other adjustments.
Generate, print, and email official route updates to corresponding school administrative offices as changes occur.
Communicate with drivers, leadership, customers, school district partners, BOE/OPT contacts, parents, vendors, and internal teams.
Maintain accurate records, reports, schedules, route information, files, system updates, and routing documentation.
Monitor daily service needs, route changes, customer concerns, route timing, and operational issues.
Ensure compliance with company policies, customer expectations, and transportation requirements.
Use phones, email, Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, routing systems, specialized data-entry databases, and other business tools.
Verify accuracy of route times, stop times, student assignments, and related routing details.
Identify issues, communicate concerns, and help support practical solutions.
Support additional projects, audits, reporting, training, or operational needs as assigned.
What You'll Bring
High school diploma or equivalent.
Related experience in transportation, routing, dispatch, customer service, administration, data entry, logistics, or office support preferred.
Strong comfort level using professional software systems, specialized data-entry databases, Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, email, and basic office programs.
Knowledge of the Brooklyn/local geographic area and surrounding neighborhood layouts.
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting professionally with BOE/OPT contacts, parents, school personnel, drivers, leadership, and internal teams.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, service-focused environment.
Ability to maintain accurate records and follow up on time-sensitive route updates.
Ability to work well with drivers, customers, parents, school officials, vendors, leadership, and support teams.
Ability to collaborate and perform effectively in a dynamic, team-oriented office environment.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple route updates accurately.
