About the Position:

As a Technician at First Student, your day-to-day work ensures our vehicles are maintained and safe for our passengers. You\'ll complete both routine and advanced repairs, handle emergency service calls, and work under moderate supervision. You may also provide mentorship to entry-level technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform maintenance and repairs on vehicles including:
- Brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions
- Electrical components, fluid systems, filters, belts, batteries, and hoses
Conduct preventive maintenance (PMs), DOT inspections, and diagnostic troubleshooting
Maintain detailed service records, complete accurate work orders, and track parts usage
Support emergency roadside service calls when needed
Clean vehicles and maintain the shop environment
Safely move vehicles around the yard or between work areas
Repair and maintain shop tools and equipment
Other duties as assigned by management

What You Bring to the Role:

Class B CDL with passenger endorsement (or ability to obtain within 3 months)
ASE Certifications (preferred, with requirement to begin ASE testing within 1 year)
Experience performing DOT inspections and vehicle safety assessments
Military experience, prior fleet maintenance, or previous bus/large vehicle repair a plus

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

Maintenance shop environment with dust, dirt, grease, and various weather exposure
Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs and work in crouched or prone positions beneath vehicles
This is a safety-sensitive position and subject to DOT drug testing, including cannabis

As a Lead Diesel Mechanic at First Student, you\'ll schedule and perform school bus fleet maintenance, diagnose and troubleshoot complex problems, and maintain service records. Other job duties will include:

Generate work orders and track progress through completion.
Maintain advanced knowledge of all vehicle components to effectively diagnose and perform maintenance and repairs.
Monitor shop operational performance and efficiency and take action to improve as needed.

Lead Diesel Mechanic Qualifications:

Valid driver\'s license required; Willingness to obtain CDL while employed - We train!
At least 5 years of automotive or diesel maintenance & repair experience or technical school education.
Previous experience in a lead technician, supervisor, or other management role is preferred.
Possess a mechanic\'s tool set.
Willingness to participate in ASE certification program. Training, testing, and bonuses provided!

Diesel Technician Qualifications

• Diesel or automotive maintenance and repair experience, or equivalent technical school education and experience.

• Vehicle diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

• Valid driver\'s license required

• CDL Class B or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment - Company paid training provided.

• Possession of a mechanic\'s tool set to complete all assigned duties.

• Willingness to participate in the ASE certification program (training, testing, and bonuses provided).

• Strong computer skills.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, Full-time day shift 9:00am-5:30pm

Starting Pay Rate: $32.00-$42.00 hr.

About the Diesel Technician Position

As a Diesel Technician with First Student, you will help maintain and repair school buses to ensure safety and reliability.

Diesel Technician key responsibilities include:

Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for our passengers.
Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle maintenance including the repair of brakes and brake inspections, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, transmission clutches and other repairs.
Perform preventive maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.
Complete work orders accurately.
Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed.

Diesel Technician Qualifications
