Pay: $18.00/hour

First Student is hiring a Paratransit Parts Clerk to support our maintenance operation. This role is responsible for keeping the Parts Room organized, accurate, and stocked so our technicians have the parts and supplies they need to keep our paratransit fleet safe and ready for service.

About the Position

As a Parts Clerk, you'll manage the day-to-day flow of parts and supplies within the maintenance facility. You'll receive and verify shipments, maintain inventory records, assist technicians at the parts counter, order needed components, and help ensure parts information is accurately documented within our systems.

This is a strong fit for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working with computers, and experienced in an automotive, fleet, transportation, or similar parts environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, verify, label, stock, and properly store incoming parts and supplies

  • Provide parts counter support to technicians and maintenance staff

  • Monitor inventory levels and reorder stock as needed

  • Order special and non-stock parts needed for vehicle repairs

  • Manage parts returns, cores, and related documentation

  • Maintain accurate parts, inventory, repair order, and sales records

  • Enter and verify information within computerized parts and repair-order systems

  • Conduct price and quality comparisons when sourcing parts

  • Maintain files, reports, and other Parts Room records

  • Keep shelves, bins, racks, and the overall Parts Room clean and organized

  • Communicate with vendors, maintenance employees, and other departments by phone and in person

  • Help ensure parts are available when needed to support safe and efficient fleet maintenance

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 1-3 years of parts room experience strongly preferred

  • Automotive, diesel, fleet, heavy-duty, or transportation parts experience is a plus

  • Comfortable using computers and computerized inventory or parts systems

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate recordkeeping

  • Excellent communication and customer-service skills

  • Ability to build effective working relationships with technicians, supervisors, coworkers, and vendors

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities

Why This Role Matters

Our technicians rely on an accurate and well-managed Parts Room to complete repairs efficiently and keep vehicles in service. As a Parts Clerk, you'll play an important role behind the scenes by making sure the right parts are available, properly documented, and ready when they're needed.

If you have parts experience, enjoy staying organized, and want to support a professional fleet maintenance operation, we want to hear from you.
