Job Description Summary

The Senior Certified Trainer - Winnipeg plays a pivotal role in driving training excellence and innovation across the local operation. Specializing in advanced training and development, this position is responsible for leading, mentoring, and supporting trainers in the Winnipeg region to ensure the highest standards of training delivery and effectiveness. This role includes the training, certification, and evaluation of trainers at all levels within the Winnipeg operation.

Job Description

Major Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate trainer certification sessions and advanced development programs for all trainers in the Winnipeg region.
  • Conduct training sessions for CDL drivers and trainers at all levels, with emphasis on advanced and specialized topics.
  • Perform performance evaluations for all trainers, offering constructive feedback and coaching for improvement.
  • Develop and implement continuous professional development initiatives to enhance trainer skill sets and overall effectiveness.
  • Evaluate all curriculum and training methods used in skills and on‑the‑bus programs, ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices.
  • Serve as the subject‑matter expert for all aspects of driver training within the Winnipeg operation, supporting trainers as needed.
  • Collaborate with regional and local leadership teams to identify Winnipeg‑specific training needs and operational improvement opportunities.
  • Support new business start‑ups in the Winnipeg area by assisting with curriculum development and training delivery.
  • Conduct on‑site visits across Winnipeg and surrounding locations to support underperforming areas and deliver hands‑on coaching.
  • Partner with training coordinators and managers to promote a culture of continuous learning, operational improvement, and safety compliance.
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in driver training, integrating them into Winnipeg‑based training programs.
  • Foster a training environment that encourages innovation, excellence, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education or Certifications Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must hold or have previously held a Class B or higher CDL with School Bus and Passenger Endorsements.

Minimum Experience or Skills Required

  • 2+ years of experience as a certified trainer in the transportation industry.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with strong mentoring and coaching skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with comfort interacting at all organizational levels.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, including throughout Winnipeg and surrounding Manitoba regions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software applications.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
