About the Position:

As a Technician at First Student, your day-to-day work ensures our vehicles are maintained and safe for our passengers. You\'ll complete both routine and advanced repairs, handle emergency service calls, and work under moderate supervision. You may also provide mentorship to entry-level technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform maintenance and repairs on vehicles including:
- Brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions
- Electrical components, fluid systems, filters, belts, batteries, and hoses
Conduct preventive maintenance (PMs), DOT inspections, and diagnostic troubleshooting
Maintain detailed service records, complete accurate work orders, and track parts usage
Support emergency roadside service calls when needed
Clean vehicles and maintain the shop environment
Safely move vehicles around the yard or between work areas
Repair and maintain shop tools and equipment
Other duties as assigned by management

About the Gasoline-powered vehicle Mechanic Position

As a gas-powered vehicle Mechanic with First Student, you will help maintain and repair Ford E-350, Ford E-450, Ford Transit, and Ford 2024 EV. All with Braun wheelchair lifts and ensure vehicle readiness & safety. Other major job duties include:

Assist with preventive maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections.
Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle and equipment repair including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, & transmissions.
Ensure work orders are completed accurately.
Assist with mobile emergency services.

Mechanic Qualifications

Valid driver\'s license required; Willingness to obtain CDL while employed - We train!
At least 1 year of automotive or diesel maintenance & repair experience or technical school education
Possess a mechanic\'s tool set
Willingness to participate in ASE certification program. Training, testing, and bonuses provided!
Subject to DOT drug testing as a safety-sensitive employee. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.

About the Role

The Fueler / Utility Worker supports daily paratransit operations by fueling vehicles, checking fluid levels, maintaining accurate fuel records, inspecting vehicles for visible damage, and helping keep the yard, fuel island, buildings, and grounds clean and safe.

Fueler / Utility Worker

$19.00/hr

About the Role

This is a hands-on, outdoor operations role that helps ensure paratransit vehicles are ready to dispatch on time each day.

What You\'ll Do

Open gates and prepare the parking lot and fuel island for daily operations
Check paratransit parking areas to ensure vehicles can be dispatched safely and on time
Reposition vehicles in the yard as needed to maintain traffic flow
Fuel paratransit vehicles and complete accurate stick and meter readings
Maintain fuel-related records, including:
- Bulk Fuel Receiving Reports
- Fuel Variance Reports
- Month-End Closing Reports
- Meter Calibration Reports
Notify management when fuel deliveries are needed
Follow proper procedures before, during, and after fuel deliveries
Check and fill vehicle fluids, including oil, antifreeze, power steering fluid, transmission fluid, brake fluid, and windshield washer fluid
Inspect belts and report any issues to the appropriate maintenance contact
Check tires twice per week for damage and proper air pressure
Report tire damage or vehicle damage immediately to the shop or management team
Maintain required spill-barrel inventory and assist with spill containment procedures when needed
Keep the fuel island stocked with supplies needed for daily vehicle checks
Clean vehicle interiors and exteriors as needed to maintain fleet cleanliness
Assist with light building and grounds maintenance, including yard cleanliness, weeds, grass, and assigned projects
Complete additional tasks as assigned by management

High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
Strong attention to detail when completing logs, reports, and inspections
Ability to communicate professionally with drivers, managers, maintenance staff, and operations team members
Reliable attendance and punctuality
Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, or holidays based on business needs

Auto Body Technician

Pay: $35.00 per hour

We are hiring an experienced Auto Body Technician to repair and restore buses, vans, and other fleet vehicles. This is a hands-on role for someone who can evaluate body damage, determine the right repair method, and complete quality work with limited supervision.

What You\'ll Do

Inspect vehicle body damage and determine the best repair method
Straighten bent body panels and remove dents
Repair or replace damaged sheet metal and body components
Use hand tools, power tools, metal-forming equipment, plasma cutters, and welding equipment
Remove, install, adjust, and align body panels and related components
Repair locks, latches, glass, upholstery, and other body accessories as needed
Prepare written repair estimates when requested
Document labor, parts, materials, and completed repairs accurately on work orders
Maintain vehicle security and safety while repairs are being completed
Follow all shop safety, PPE, environmental, and waste-disposal procedures
Maintain a clean, safe, and team-oriented work environment

What We\'re Looking For

High school diploma or equivalent
Auto Body and Collision Damage Repair certificate or at least five years of practical auto body repair experience
ASE credentials preferred
Experience operating welding, plasma-cutting, and standard auto body repair equipment
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Basic computer and documentation skills
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to accurately estimate repair time, parts, and materials

Work Environment

Most repairs are completed indoors in a working maintenance shop. The environment may include noise from hammers, air tools, welding equipment, and other shop machinery. Proper PPE and shop safety procedures must be followed at all times. Some lifting is required.

Pay

$35.00 per hour

This position may be considered safety-sensitive depending on location and may be subject to drug and alcohol testing. In Washington State, testing may include cannabis.

Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities as operational needs change.
