Utility Service / Fueling Associate - Para-Transit Operations

Are you dependable, hands-on, and comfortable working in a fast-paced transportation environment? We are looking for a Utility Service / Fueling Associate to help keep our para-transit fleet fueled, clean, safe, and ready for daily service.

In this role, you will support daily yard operations, fuel island activity, vehicle inspections, light maintenance, and overall facility cleanliness. This is a great opportunity for someone who takes pride in keeping operations moving and enjoys active, hands-on work.

$19.00/hr based on union CBA

What You\'ll Do

As a Utility Service / Fueling Associate, you will play an important role in preparing vehicles and supporting the daily flow of para-transit operations. Responsibilities include:

Opening the lot and checking para-transit parking areas to ensure vehicles can be dispatched on time
Repositioning vehicles as needed to maintain safe and efficient traffic flow in the yard
Opening and operating the fuel island
Taking accurate fuel stick and meter readings
Completing daily fuel inventory sheets and required fuel reports
Monitoring fuel levels and notifying management when deliveries are needed
Following proper procedures during fuel deliveries, including pre- and post-delivery readings
Checking and filling vehicle fluids, including oil, antifreeze, power steering fluid, transmission fluid, brake fluid, and windshield washer fluid
Inspecting belts, tires, and vehicles for damage during fueling or scheduled checks
Reporting vehicle damage, tire issues, or maintenance concerns immediately
Maintaining spill response supplies and assisting with spill containment procedures when necessary
Cleaning vehicle interiors and exteriors to help maintain a clean and professional fleet
Performing light building and grounds maintenance, including yard cleanup, grass, weeds, and other assigned projects
Supporting additional operational needs as assigned by management

What We\'re Looking For

The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-minded, and able to manage multiple tasks throughout the day. You should be comfortable working outdoors, communicating with team members, and following established procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
Strong attendance and punctuality
Ability to interact professionally with drivers, employees, customers, management, client representatives, union officials, and the public
Ability to work extended hours as needed, including weekends and holidays based on business needs

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

This is an active, hands-on position that requires working outdoors in seasonal weather conditions. Candidates must be able to:

Work in wet, cold, hot, or changing outdoor conditions
Stand, bend, stoop, crouch, squat, and kneel while performing inspections and other duties
Use full hearing, speech, and vision abilities
Use hands and fingers for paperwork, equipment, and basic manual tasks
Write clear, legible reports
Drive a company or personal vehicle for work-related purposes when required

Minimum Education or Certifications Required

High School diploma or equivalent. Appropriate vehicle license preferred.

Minimum Experience or Skills Required

5-7 years experience.
Basic knowledge of radio dispatch equipment, excellent communications and customer service skills.
Ability to work under time constraints and deadlines.
Problem solving and analytical abilities.
Previous terminal operations, dispatch, or driver experience.
Good computer skills

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Must be able to move about the office and between floors; utilize standard office equipment; access filing system/cabinets; and communicate effectively and efficiently in person or by telephone. Sitting for extended periods of time.

Collect all pre-trip inspection reports from drivers. Inspection reports will be documented, dated, and filed. Vehicles (buses) needing repairs shall be reported to the service department. Responsible for working with the Shop Manager with respect to scheduling buses for preventive maintenance (P.M.) service(s), reporting breakdowns, and discussing driver concerns regarding the fleet.
Shall assist in answering the telephone per telephone Standards and provide follow-up to questions or inquiries.
Performs other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Education or Certifications Required

High School diploma or equivalent. Appropriate vehicle license preferred.

Minimum Experience or Skills Required

5-7 years experience.
Basic knowledge of radio dispatch equipment, excellent communications and customer service skills.
Ability to work under time constraints and deadlines.
Problem solving and analytical abilities.

About the Role

Maintenance Manager

Salary stating at $100,000 annually

This is a hands-on leadership role. The Maintenance Manager must have strong mechanical experience and be prepared to assist with diagnostics, repairs and other shop work when needed.

Major Responsibilities

Manage daily maintenance operations and directly supervise shop employees.
Schedule preventive maintenance and repairs and communicate vehicle availability to dispatch and operations.
Assist technicians with troubleshooting, diagnostics and hands-on repair work.
Ensure the fleet is maintained in a safe, reliable and service-ready condition.
Hire, train, coach and develop maintenance employees.
Assign and direct work, conduct performance reviews and address employee performance, disciplinary matters and workplace concerns.
Work with the Location Manager and regional maintenance leadership to communicate fleet status, staffing needs, maintenance priorities and budget requirements.
Review repair orders, financial variances and maintenance expenses.
Approve invoices and accounts-payable documents within assigned authority.
Order parts and fuel and coordinate outside repair services when needed.
Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable federal, state and local requirements.
Confirm technicians are properly trained, equipped and following current operating and safety procedures.
Identify and implement opportunities to improve shop efficiency and reduce operating costs.
Oversee vehicle fueling and coordinate building or grounds services when assigned.
Complete special projects and additional maintenance responsibilities as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required
Technical or vocational training preferred
Commercial Driver\'s License with required endorsements
At least five years of hands-on mechanical and maintenance leadership experience
Experience repairing and maintaining diesel engines and school bus equipment preferred
Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Ability to lead, coach and hold employees accountable
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Basic computer and maintenance-system skills
