Diesel Technician - Whitman, MA (Serving South Shore School Districts)

First Student is now hiring a Diesel Technician for our shop serving Whitman, Abington, Duxbury Academy, Norwell, Weymouth, Holbrook & Rockland!

Schedule: Monday-Friday | 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM | Full-Time

Pay: $35.00 - $38.00 per hour (NOT flat rate) + ASE incentives

What You'll Do

As a Diesel Technician, you'll maintain and repair a fleet of school buses to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance.

  • Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) and safety inspections

  • Diagnose and repair engines, brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions

  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems

  • Complete work orders and maintenance documentation

  • Support road calls and emergency repairs as needed

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of diesel, fleet, or automotive mechanic experience

  • Experience with diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance

  • Valid driver's license required

  • CDL Class B (or willingness to obtain - company paid)

  • Own mechanic tools

  • Willingness to obtain ASE certifications (training + pay increases provided)

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented shop environment

Additional Information

  • This is a safety-sensitive position subject to DOT drug testing

  • DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 prohibits use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana
