First Student is hiring a Fleet Technician to support our paratransit fleet. This is a hands-on maintenance role working with buses and vans that provide essential transportation service to the community.

About the Position

As a Fleet Technician, you\'ll perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs to help keep our vehicles safe, reliable, and ready for service. You\'ll work under the direction of experienced maintenance leadership while developing your technical skills and gaining experience working on a large transportation fleet.

Key Responsibilities

Perform routine preventive maintenance and safety inspections on buses, vans, and other fleet vehicles
Complete basic mechanical repairs and replace worn or damaged components
Inspect brakes, tires, fluids, electrical systems, and other vehicle systems

Ability and willingness to participate in First Student\'s ASE certification program
Expected to begin ASE participation within the first year and obtain at least one ASE certification within 24 months

Ability to safely use standard hand and shop tools

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work around vehicles for extended periods

This is a senior, hands-on technician role for someone who can independently diagnose and complete complex repairs. About the Diesel Technician Position

As a Diesel Technician III with First Student, you will serve as an advanced member of the maintenance team, performing complex diagnostics, repairs, preventative maintenance, and inspections on school buses, vans, and other fleet vehicles.

About the Diesel Technician Position

Diesel Technician Key Responsibilities Include:

Ensure vehicles are properly maintained and safe for our passengers.
Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle maintenance and repair.
Perform advanced diagnostics on mechanical, electrical, engine, transmission, emissions, and related vehicle systems.
Repair brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, transmission clutches, engines, steering systems, and other major vehicle components.
Diagnose and repair electrical, starting, charging, lighting, and electronic control systems.
Perform preventative maintenance, safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.
Identify mechanical and safety concerns before vehicles are returned to service.
Complete complex repairs accurately and efficiently.
Evaluate completed work and verify that repairs meet First Student and regulatory standards.
Complete work orders accurately, including all labor, parts, supplies, diagnostic findings, and corrective actions.
Notify maintenance leadership of potentially dangerous equipment and recommend corrective action.
