Your day as a School Bus Monitor/Aide will include:

Help students safely board and exit the bus
Assist children with special needs during transport
Ensure students remain seated and follow bus safety rules
Communicate with the driver to maintain a safe, calm ride
Provide care and encouragement to students each day
Bus is parked in North Kingstown, route services the Jamestown area

School Bus Monitor/Aide qualifications:

At least 21 years of age
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work flexible split shifts (AM/PM).
Physical ability to assist students and perform emergency procedures.
CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
Friendly, reliable, and patient working with children

At First Student, our Assistant Transportation Managers are a constant reflection of our company\'s commitment to safety and customer service. The Assistant Transportation Manager is responsible for assisting the Location Manager in supervising daily operations, monitoring performance, identifying safety concerns, and resolving issues while ensuring all routes run safely and efficiently.

This position supports the following school partners:
Providence School Department, R.I.D.E., The Learning Community, PVD Prep, Hope Academy, Nuestro Mundo Charter School, and The Met School, and oversees a large team of drivers, monitors, and operational staff.

Position Details

Location: Providence, RI
Salary Range: $65,000 - $70,000 (based on experience)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Bonus: Eligible for up to 10% STIP annual target

Ensure home-to-school routes are covered efficiently and on time
Communicate with drivers and dispatch regarding attendance, performance, and daily challenges
Monitor driver safety and conduct Injury Prevention (IP) contacts
Investigate and resolve parent, school, or client concerns in a timely manner
Ensure proper assignment of spare drivers and vehicles to maintain service levels
Support recruiting, onboarding, and development of employees
Audit and process athletic trip invoices per company guidelines
Assist with union-related matters, including grievances (if applicable)
Build and maintain strong relationships with school district partners and internal teams

Experience & Skills Required

High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor\'s degree preferred)
3-5 years of transportation experience and 2-3 years of supervisory experience
Strong leadership, organizational, and time-management skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Working knowledge of vehicle maintenance and shop operations
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to work extended hours as needed
Must have a reliable vehicle to travel within the service area
