Now Hiring: Field Supervisor
At First Student, safety and service are at the center of everything we do. The Field Supervisor supports daily transportation operations by monitoring driver performance, assisting with safety compliance, investigating incidents, and helping ensure safe, reliable service.
This role is ideal for someone with strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work closely with drivers, school district staff, customers, and location leadership.

Key Responsibilities
- Monitor driver pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report equipment issues
- Conduct driver road checks, including on-time performance, safe driving, bus stops, speeding, and railroad crossings
- Observe drivers for work readiness, including uniform, safety vest, and appearance standards
- Conduct safety contacts with drivers and correct safety violations as needed
- Investigate incidents and accidents, including gathering facts and taking photos
- Attend client or parent meetings related to driver performance and recommend corrective actions
- Complete compliance activities, including MVRs, background checks, reports, route signs, GAP applications, and system updates
- Supervise daily loading and unloading at schools
- Support special events, including parking and loading/unloading coordination
- Dispatch as needed and monitor on-time performance
- Assist management with driver interviews
- Complete additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years of supervisory experience with hourly employees preferred
- Computer skills, including working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanical processes and maintenance
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work with drivers, customers, senior leaders, client representatives, union officials, and the general public
- Fluent in English
- Ability to work extended hours, including weekends, as needed
- Regular and consistent attendance and punctuality
- Must have a working vehicle to travel within the service area as needed
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to move throughout an office, company facility, and bus parking areas
- Must be able to use standard office equipment and access filing systems
- Must be able to communicate effectively in person and by phone
- Must be able to drive a company or personal vehicle for driver observations, school district meetings, and other company business
- Must be able to use full hearing, speech, and vision
- Must be able to stoop, crouch, squat, kneel, bend, and stand while performing inspections or platform training
- Must be able to work in wet, cold, or hot environmental conditions
- Must be able to write clear and legible reports
